DisCoVor 2027

June 14 – June 17, 2027
Madison, Wisconsin

The 6th Colloquium on Vortex Dominated Flows – DisCoVor 2027 will be held in Madison, Wisconsin from June 14 through June 17, 2027. This meeting focuses on the flow physics of unsteady, vortex-dominated flows. Unsteady flows with multiple interacting vortices that play an important role in the flow or system are the central subject of this colloquium. Research areas of particular interest include fluid-structure interactions, biological flight/swimming, physiological flows, flow control, energy harvesting, separated flows, wakes, and other shear and vortical flows. Experimental, computational, analytical and data-driven modeling contributions are all encouraged.

This meeting builds off the success of prior DisCoVor Colloquia:

2026     Edinburgh, Scotland

2025     Bozeman, Montana, USA

2024     Delft, Netherlands

2023     Breckenridge, Colorado, USA

2022     Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland

Workshop Details

Program

The DisCoVor meeting is an opportunity not only for the dissemination of the latest research in vortex-dominated flows, but is also designed for maximum engagement and fostering discussions amongst attendees. Throughout the four days, a single oral presentation session will occur in the mornings, and poster sessions, informal discussions, hikes, and other group activities will be organized for the afternoons.

The technical and group activities program will be posted closer to the event date.

Abstract submission

The submission will require a two-page abstract with title, author list, presenting author, and the PI’s name, email, and affiliation. You will be required to specify whether an oral or poster presentation is preferred.

To accommodate a single-session conference format and foster a collaborative and interactive environment, the number of participants will be limited. Participants will be selected based on extended abstracts for the research they plan to present.

To allow as many different groups as possible to participate and to achieve a high scientific level for both the oral presentations and the poster sessions, we will restrict the maximum number of abstracts that can be submitted per research group.

Per single research group (corresponding to a single principal investigator), we allow a maximum of 2 abstract contributions, and a maximum of 1 oral presentation.

Abstract templates are available in latex and MS-Word.
